How we work

Editorial standards

FrunkLab publishes Tesla news, how-to guides and design ideas next to the wrap designer. This page explains who writes them, where the facts come from and how to tell us when we got something wrong.

Who we are

FrunkLab is an independent Tesla wrap designer, gallery and lock-sound library. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or paid by Tesla, and nobody pays to appear in our articles.

Our bylines are house pen names

Articles carry one of three house bylines, one per beat, so you always know which desk a story came from. They are pen names the FrunkLab editorial team publishes under, not separate staff members:

  • Max Calder, news editor: Tesla news: Full Self-Driving, Robotaxi, Cybercab, Semi, energy, Superchargers and software updates.
  • Dex Moreno, guides editor: How-to guides: Paint Shop uploads, lock chimes, Boombox, wrap care, costs and fixes.
  • Sienna Park, design editor: Design and culture: wrap ideas, color, seasonal looks, lock sounds and community picks.

Posts written in the first person on the blog, like the founder's notes and growth updates, are signed by FrunkLab itself.

Each byline is also written as a character with a garage: the Tesla their wraps are designed for, a creator page in the gallery, and blog posts about their own wraps written in the first person, in character. Max's car is a Model Y Juniper AWD, Dex's a 2020-2024 Model Y and Sienna's a Model 3 Highland AWD. The wraps are real designs made on FrunkLab and free to download like any other.

When an editor comments in the community gallery, the comment carries a “FrunkLab editor” label that links back here, and the notification you get says the same. Editors never leave star ratings, so they never move a design's average.

How an article gets made

Every piece starts from primary material: Tesla's own posts and release notes, regulator decisions, company filings, and reporting from established EV outlets. Drafts are written with AI assistance, then read, fact-checked and edited by a person before they publish.

News follows a two-source rule. If we cannot find at least two real, dated sources for a claim, the claim does not run. Sources are linked in the article, and we never invent quotes.

Our lens

We are Tesla and EV fans, and we say so. Our news focuses on progress: new software, new markets, new milestones. That is a choice about what we cover, not a license to bend facts. Numbers, dates and quotes are reported as they are, and if something is still a rumor, we call it one.

Images

Hero images on our articles are illustrations created with AI image tools and marked “Illustration” under the picture. They are never presented as photographs of a real event, and they never include brand logos, license plates or real people. Screenshots in tutorials are real captures of FrunkLab and the Tesla app.

Corrections and updates

Spotted a mistake? Email hello@frunklab.com or use the contact page. We fix factual errors quickly and show the date of the change at the top of the article. When a story moves on, we add a dated note rather than quietly rewriting history.
