Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about designing a digital Tesla wrap with FrunkLab.
What is FrunkLab?
FrunkLab is an AI-powered studio for designing custom digital wraps for Tesla vehicles. A digital wrap is an image your Tesla shows on its in-dash illustration, charging screen, and mobile app. You design it on FrunkLab (sometimes spelled FrunkLabs), export a Tesla-ready PNG, and load it onto the car with a USB drive. It is not a physical vinyl wrap on the body.
Is FrunkLab free?
Yes. The free tier lets you design and export wraps and includes 3 AI generations per month. Paid tiers at $5, $10, and $15 per month add more AI generations and saved designs.

Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck get the full studio with a rotating 3D preview. Model S and Model X are supported for design and export with a flat 2D preview. Every supported Tesla can receive a wrap file on the car itself.
Which Tesla supports whatHow do I get the wrap onto my Tesla?
Export the PNG from the studio, create a folder named Wraps at the root of a USB drive formatted as exFAT or FAT32, and copy the PNG into it. Plug the drive into your car, then open Toybox, choose Paint Shop, and pick your design from the Wraps tab. The whole transfer takes a few minutes.
USB export walkthroughIs a digital wrap the same as a vinyl wrap?
No. A digital wrap changes how your car looks on its own screens and the Tesla app, not on the physical body. It costs far less and you can change it anytime. A physical vinyl wrap changes the actual paint surface and costs thousands.
Digital vs physical wrapsDo I need design skills?
No. Start from a solid color or an AI-generated style, or fork a design from the community gallery and make it your own. Most first wraps take about five minutes.
Your first wrap in 5 minutesCan I design my wrap directly on the 3D car?
Yes. The Garage is FrunkLab's 3D-first editor: pick your Model 3, Model Y, or Cybertruck and design on a live 3D model of it. Click a panel to place text or stickers (they rotate to read upright automatically), drag elements around the body, apply gradient base coats, and check the design under showroom, night, and neon lighting. It's in beta and free to use.
Open the GarageWhat's the difference between the Studio and the Garage?
They're two editors for the same designs. The Studio is template-first: you edit the flat top-down wrap template with precise tools and layers, ideal for lettering, logos, and measured layouts. The Garage is 3D-first: you design directly on a live 3D car and see every change instantly. Designs open in either editor with no conversion, so most people explore in the Garage and fine-tune in the Studio.
Studio or Garage? Full comparisonCan I remix other people's wrap designs?
Yes. Any wrap in the community gallery can be forked into your own editor as a fully editable design. Inside the Garage, the community browser goes further: each wrap you browse renders live on your own car model before you commit, so you can preview a Model 3 design on your Cybertruck first.
Browse the galleryHow much does a Tesla wrap cost?
A digital wrap is free to design and load: FrunkLab's free tier covers designing, 3D preview, and Tesla-ready export. A physical vinyl wrap is a different product, typically $2,000 to $6,000 installed for a full wrap, plus removal costs later. Many owners design digitally first to test a look before committing to vinyl.
Full Tesla wrap cost breakdownWhat can the AI generate?
The AI is good at textures, patterns, gradients, and color schemes. It is not reliable at legible text or logos, so add those with the studio's text and shape tools after generating.
Writing AI wrap promptsCan I use brand logos, characters, or celebrity faces?
No. The AI declines trademarked logos and copyrighted characters, and designs that use someone else's brand or likeness are rejected from the public gallery. Create original artwork inspired by a style instead.
Is FrunkLab affiliated with Tesla?
No. FrunkLab is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Tesla, Inc. Tesla and the Tesla model names are trademarks of Tesla, Inc.
