Tesla lock chime ideas: 30 prompts for the AI chime generator
A Tesla lock chime is five seconds at most, plays once, and is heard mostly by you walking away from the car. That shapes what makes a good one: short, distinct, and either funny or satisfying on the hundredth listen. Below are thirty prompts for FrunkLab's AI lock chime generator, grouped by the kind of sound they produce, with notes on wording so the first generation is close.
Every prompt here is original. The generator will not reproduce a film score or a celebrity, and the library's ready-made sounds cover most of the famous ones anyway.
How the generator reads a prompt
You type a description, pick a length (short, medium or long, roughly two, three and a half, or five seconds) and optionally a style, and the generator returns a Tesla-ready WAV. Three habits get better results:
- Name the sound source. "A marimba" or "a deep synth bass" beats "a nice sound".
- Describe the shape. Two notes descending, a single hit with a long tail, a rising three-note arpeggio.
- Put spoken words in quotes. Anything inside quotes is treated as a line to be spoken, so "a calm voice saying 'doors locked'" produces exactly those words.
Length matters more than people expect. A spoken line needs medium or long; a single chime hit is happiest at short.
Spoken lines
Spoken chimes are the ones passers-by notice. Keep the line under six words and pick a voice character in the same sentence.

Jingles and chimes
These are the ones that age well. Melodic, short, and ending cleanly. If a result sounds thin, add "full-bodied" or "with a warm sub-bass under it" and generate again.

- A three-note rising synth arpeggio, glassy and bright, ending on a held note
- A single deep bell hit with a long shimmering decay
- A four-note music-box phrase, delicate and slightly wistful

- A warm electric piano chord that swells and fades
- A tight kalimba riff, three quick notes and a rest
- A cinematic brass stab with a quick reverb tail
- A soft chime and a low "thunk", like a vault closing
Style presets nudge these: Luxury pushes toward felt piano and soft bells, Retro toward chiptune, Cyberpunk toward dark analog bass. Try the same prompt with two styles before rewriting it.
Sound effects
Foley-style chimes are the fun ones, and the most likely to make you smile in a parking lot. Describe the object and the action.
- A spaceship airlock sealing shut with a hiss and a heavy clunk
- An old brass cash register: a bell ding and the drawer sliding closed
- A camera shutter click followed by a film advance
- A large wooden door closing with a satisfying latch
- A short laser charge-up that ends in a soft pop
- A cat purring twice, then a tiny bell
- A single rain drop hitting a tin roof, close and dry
- A tennis ball bounce and a racket swing
- A hydraulic press cycle, fast, ending with a pneumatic sigh
- Two coins dropping into a glass jar
Foley prompts benefit from the word "close" or "dry": it keeps the generator from adding a room echo that muddies a two-second clip.
Making it fit your wrap
If you designed a wrap in the studio, the chime can match it. A synthwave wrap wants prompt 12 or 16; a desert camo wrap wants 21 or a low wind sting; a luxury matte black wrap wants 13 or 17. The limits every chime has to respect
Tesla is strict about the file:
- A WAV named exactly
LockChime.wav - Five seconds or shorter
- Under 1 MB
- At the root of a USB drive formatted exFAT or FAT32
- Enabled in the car under Controls, then Locks

Frequently asked questions
Can the chime say my name? Yes. Put the words in quotes, for example a calm voice saying "see you later, Sam". Keep the whole line under six words so it fits comfortably in five seconds.
Why does my spoken chime sound rushed? The length was too short for the line. Switch to medium or long, or shorten the words. Tesla still stops playback at five seconds.
Can I use a movie quote or a game sound? No. The generator makes original sounds and will not reproduce copyrighted audio or a real person's voice. The library's ready-made sounds cover many well-known effects.
Does a chime count against my wrap generations? No. Chime generations are separate from wrap generations: melody and voice chimes are free every day, and sound-effect chimes have their own monthly allowance.
