You can now ask Claude or ChatGPT for a Tesla wrap

Tesla owners who live in an AI assistant can now design from there. FrunkLab has shipped a remote server for the Model Context Protocol, the open standard that Anthropic introduced in late 2024 and that Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Claude Code all use to connect to outside tools. Add https://www.frunklab.com/api/mcp as a custom connector, approve it with your FrunkLab account, and the assistant can do the things you would otherwise open a browser tab for.

What it does

Once connected, an assistant can:

• Generate a Paint Shop wrap from a description for any supported Tesla, sized to that car's template and saved to your designs
• Generate a lock chime from a description or a spoken line, saved to your My Chimes library with a download link
• Tell you how many generations you have left this month
• List your designs, search the 400+ lock sounds, and browse popular gallery wraps

A wrap generated this way lands in your account like one made in the studio: previewed on the rotating 3D car, downloadable as the Paint Shop PNG, editable in the studio or the Garage, and ready to upload from the Tesla app under Creations, then Wrap. You also get an email with the link, so the result survives the chat scrolling away.

What it costs

Nothing extra. Generations made from an assistant use the same monthly allowance as the website: 3 wraps and 2 sound-effect lock chimes a month on a free account (melody and voice chimes are free, 5 a day), more on the paid plans, and purchased tokens after that. When the allowance is used up the assistant is told the reset date. A failed generation is never charged.

How the sign-in works

The connection is a standard OAuth approval. The assistant opens a FrunkLab page, you sign in as usual, and the page shows which app is asking, where your browser will be sent afterwards, and the exact permissions: generate wraps, generate chimes, see your designs, read your plan. It never sees your password, email or payment details, cannot delete anything, and cannot buy anything. The key it holds works only at FrunkLab's MCP server and expires; you can disconnect any assistant from your account page at any time, and the same page creates API keys for clients that cannot run the browser sign-in.

Setting it up

In Claude: Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector, paste the address. In ChatGPT: turn on Developer mode under Connectors, then Create. In Claude Code: one command in the terminal. The AI assistants page has every client's steps, and the connection tutorial walks through the approval screen and a first wrap.

The first prompt to try is the one you have been putting off: "design a wrap for my Model Y, matte black with a copper pinstripe", and then "make me a lock chime that goes with it".
