Tesla publishes its third-quarter 2026 production, deliveries and deployments report on Friday, October 2. Two numbers will lead every headline: how many vehicles Tesla delivered, and how many gigawatt-hours of energy storage it deployed. The second one could set a record.

What analysts expect

Tesla compiles a consensus from the analysts who cover it. Drive Tesla's report on that consensus puts it at:

  • 461,974 vehicles, from 24 analysts, of which about 450,700 are Model 3 and Model Y.
  • 15.9 GWh of energy storage from 19 analysts, with a median of 16.2 GWh.

Individual estimates are spread wide. Electrek's roundup lists JPMorgan at 482,000, Barclays at 475,000, UBS at 470,000 and Goldman Sachs at 435,000, a range of about 60,000 cars between the highest and lowest calls.

The comparisons that matter

  • Q2 2026: 480,126 deliveries and 13.5 GWh of storage, the best second quarter in Tesla's history. Our Q2 recap has the details.
  • Q3 2025: 497,099 deliveries, the all-time quarterly record.

Worth remembering: in Q2, Tesla beat consensus by tens of thousands of cars. Estimates are a starting point, not the answer.

Energy storage is the number to watch

If storage lands near 16 GWh, it would be Tesla's biggest quarter ever, ahead of the 14.2 GWh record set in Q4 2025. Analysts in the same consensus expect about 56.5 GWh for the full year, up from roughly 46.7 GWh in 2025. Megapack 3 and Megablock production in Houston is ramping, and grid-scale batteries have quietly become one of Tesla's fastest-growing businesses.

What else is new since last quarter

The Q3 report covers a busy three months:

  • The Semi went into high-volume production at the new Nevada factory, with customer trucks handed over at the September 24 launch.
  • Cybercab joined the public Robotaxi fleet in Austin in early September.
  • FSD Supervised reached eight European countries, most recently Croatia on September 29.

Semi and Cybercab volumes are small next to Model 3 and Model Y, but they show up in the "other models" line, and that line is worth a glance this time.

The official numbers will appear on Tesla's investor relations site on October 2.
