Thank you. FrunkLab just had its busiest summer, and September is already bigger.

I want to start with the word that matters most: thank you.

When I wrote why I built FrunkLab, the community gallery had a few dozen wraps and most of them were mine. This summer the gallery passed 370 published designs, and I recognize almost none of the names on the newest ones. That is the best problem a founder can have.

So this is a thank-you note first and a growth update second. I am going to share real numbers, because you earned them, but as percentages and milestones rather than a full dashboard. You will understand why.

What the summer looked like

Here is August compared to July, the two most recent full months.

  • Sign-ups up more than 60%.
  • Visits up more than 150%. Traffic more than doubled in a month.
  • Studio sessions up around 140%.
  • Wrap downloads up almost 9x. Not 9%. Nine times.

That last one is the number I keep coming back to. Downloads are the moment a design stops being a picture on a website and becomes a file on the way to a car. Nine times as many of those in one month means nine times as many Teslas out there wearing something someone made here.

Then September happened. We are twelve days into the month as I write this, and September has already passed all of August on sign-ups, on visits, and on AI wrap generations, where it is running at 3.7 times August's total. The month is not half over.

I have looked at these charts every morning for a year. This is the first stretch where the line went up and kept going.

What changed

Three things, and none of them was an ad budget.

Tesla made the phone the whole workflow. In July the Tesla app gained Creations > Wrap > Upload, and the USB drive became optional. Design on your phone, download, upload, look at the screen. The loop went from an afternoon to a coffee break, and downloads followed. If you have not tried it, the phone-to-car guide is the whole thing in five steps.

Every Tesla got a real 3D model. Model S and Model X joined the lineup in August on their own rotating bodies, so a Plaid owner designs, previews, and exports exactly like a Model 3 owner. The gallery now has wraps for all five cars.

AI assistants found us. ChatGPT search became one of our largest referral sources over the summer, ahead of every social network. People ask an assistant "how do I put a custom wrap on my Tesla," and increasingly the answer sends them here. That pushed me to build the thing I am proudest of this month.

You can now ask Claude or ChatGPT for a wrap

On September 10 FrunkLab shipped a remote MCP server. Connect it once in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or Claude Code, sign in with your account, and your assistant can generate a wrap or a lock chime, search the sound library, and browse the gallery from a chat. The result lands in your designs, on the 3D car, ready for Paint Shop. It uses the same free allowance as the website, and nothing is sold inside the chat.

Setup takes about two minutes on the AI assistants page. The first connected sessions are already producing designs, and watching an assistant pick a wrap for a car it has never seen is exactly as strange and fun as it sounds.

Alongside it, the lock chime generator got a free daily tier. Melody and spoken-word chimes are now free for everyone, five a day, on the lock chime generator. Tell it what to say and it says it.

The people this is actually about

Some specific thank-yous, because "the community" is too vague for what happened.

To everyone who published to the gallery: you are the reason a new visitor sees 370 real designs instead of a blank grid. A remixed wrap is a compliment, and you have been paying each other a lot of them.

To the people who reported Paint Shop quirks: the filename limit, the 1 MB ceiling, the software version that hides the Wrap tab. Every one of those reports became a line in the troubleshooting guide, and the next person did not have to hit it.

To the X followers who share renders of their cars wearing FrunkLab wraps: those photos convert better than anything I could write. Tag @FrunkLab and I will keep resharing them.

To the early members who pay for a plan: you fund the AI generations, the 3D models, and the server that serves all of it. I do not take that lightly, and I read every reply to every email.

And to the moderators and creators on the creators directory who keep the gallery clean and worth browsing. Moderation is invisible when it works. It has been working.

Why percentages and not the full dashboard

A few people have asked for raw numbers. I am going to keep sharing growth rates and public milestones, and keep the absolute counts private, for a boring reason: FrunkLab is small, independent, and competing with people who would love to know exactly how small. The rates tell you the truth about the trend. The trend is what I want you to know.

What's next

I do not promise features here that have not shipped, so this list is short and safe.

More Tesla news, written the way owners want to read it. The Roadster reveal is October 1, and the day Tesla shows the car, there will be a gallery of Roadster-inspired wraps for the cars you actually own.

More wrap ideas per model. The per-model pages for Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck are the most-visited pages on the site, and the Model S and Model X pages open the moment their galleries are deep enough. If you own one of those, you know what to do.

And more of whatever you tell me is missing. Reply to any FrunkLab email, or write to hello@frunklab.com. I read all of it.

Thank you for the busiest summer this project has had. If you have not made a wrap yet, the studio is open, and your car is waiting for a paint job.
