Tesla's US Supercharger network passes 40,000 stalls, and Canada hits 3,000
Tesla's US Supercharger network crossed 40,000 stalls in late September 2026, about half of all public DC fast-charging stalls in the country. The same week, Canada's 3,000th stall opened in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec.

Tesla's US Supercharger network has passed 40,000 stalls. EV Charging Stations reported the milestone on September 28, counting every stall Tesla has opened in the US since the first site in September 2012. The same week, Canada got its own round number: the 3,000th Canadian stall, at a new 24-stall site in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec.
The numbers
- 40,000+ US stalls across more than 3,263 locations, an average of about 12 stalls per site.
- About half of the US fast-charging market. The country has roughly 80,000 public DC fast-charging stalls, and Tesla operates close to 50% of them.
- Big sites, not just many sites. Tesla runs only about 22% of the roughly 14,500 DC charging locations, which tells you its stations are far larger than the average.
- About 85,000 stalls worldwide at nearly 9,000 sites, with the US making up around 47% of the global network.
Those figures come from the same EV Charging Stations report. They explain a lot about the last two years: when most automakers moved to Tesla's NACS plug, the size of this network was a big part of the reason.
Canada's 3,000th stall
The Canadian milestone landed at Mont-Tremblant, a Laurentian resort town that sees heavy fall traffic. Tesla North covered the opening, and Basenor notes that one stall carries a maple leaf design to mark the occasion. Canada now has more than 3,000 stalls across about 288 locations, a strong number for a country with long distances between cities.
Easier charging stops are coming to the car too
The network is not only getting bigger. Tesla's 2026.38 software update brings Supercharger site maps with live stall status to more cars, so you can see which stalls are open before you pull in. Put that together with 40,000 US stalls and road trips keep getting simpler.
For context on how this network compares with the rest of the industry, our earlier look at Tesla's share of US fast charging is still a good read.
